Sargent Tom Covatto of the Housing Authority Community Oriented Probation Program (C.O.P.P.S.) presents Abizandra Burgos a resident of the John E. Horan Garden Apartments with a plaque recognizing her being awarded a $6,000 College Scholarship from the Housing Authority Insurance Organization. This is the 2nd year Ms. Burgos has received the award.
The presentation was part of the Housing Authority’s annual day long giving event in partnership with staff from the YMCA of Greater Erie, GECAC Homeplus, the Multi-Cultural Resource Center, SafeNet, the COPPS Program, Gannon University and Onex Industries. The Santa Team distributed gifts, books and treats to over 100 children from the John E. Horan Garden Apartments, Pineview and Erie Heights. Onex donated twenty gifts as part of the gift giveaway.
The Santa Team was also responsible for Holiday Parties at Schmid Towers, Friendship Apartments and Ostrow Apartments where over 125 residents were treated to lunch, a gift giveaway and holiday games. During that week the Santa Team also distributed over 100 food boxes to HACE residents.
