May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health problems have been growing in the United States, with 1 in 5 U.S. adults and 1 in 6 youth facing mental illness each year. Less than half of those facing mental illness get treatment, however.

If you are feeling sad or hopeless, anxious, angry, or scattered—you are not alone. It’s important to share your feelings with a trusted friend or family member, someone who can help you get the help you need. Many problems can be treated by talking to a professional, and there are medicines available to help as well.

You can reach out to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for help. To read stories of people facing mental illness, or to share your own story—to let others know that they are not alone—visit NAMI’s website for personal stories: https://www.nami.org/Personal-Stories.
